BLIZZARD WIZARDS

Winter arrived last week.  I hope I don't eat my words; but we're two weeks ahead of the 50 year average for tracks down, at least on 87% of Montreal.

It didn't come easy.  Everyone's busy dealing with the Thanksgiving storm, the holidays and early winter viruses.  Two of the Rangers were able to find the time and enthusiasm to get out and pack, roll, deal with thousands of bent down trees and saplings to open the close trails up enough for tracking.

The snow we got is not the early winter stuff we're used to; it's creamy, lucious and very forgiving if you can get through the 25" of it to work it into a trail.

The maintenance crew planned on putting all the equipment ready for winter during the holiday and while rifle deer season was on.  We didn't plan to have the need for everything we own to be needed by Thanksgiving day.  Two more rangers assisted for Sunday Service in getting the OG groomer-gator outfitted with its winter footwear. We are now fully operational.

This storm ranks in the top five storms the Rangers have experienced.  We just hope we can enjoy cold nights and seasonal days to keep it until like, say March.

People skied today.  There were some snowshoers out with their dogs... That's why the Rangers get out there; that's why they do it.

Get out.  We were stuck inside when the power was out for 11 hours.  Now's our chance to Ski Freely.  Z
